Access Management Services support University business processes, policies, and technologies via group management, roles, and identity attributes that ensure access to Penn State services and resources.
Authentication Services protect digital identities at Penn State through services, such as Kerberos, Penn State WebAccess. After a student, faculty, or staff member has authenticated to a Penn State service or resource, the individual is able to gain access the service or resource via authorization. A Penn State Access Account is the digital identity for students, faculty, staff, and designated affiliates, granting permissions to users for protected online resources and services.
Directory Services provide a searchable source of information about Penn State personnel, departments, groups, and roles. The Penn State Directory is based on the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP).
Federation Services give Penn State access to an association of organizations, as well as policies, procedures, and technologies to enable secure single-sign-on solutions for online services, resources, and collaboration within–and external to–the University.
Person Registration and Identity Provisioning Services support the creation of electronic identities for Penn State students, faculty, staff, and designated affiliates. Electronic identities are created in partnership with trusted entities with the authority to perform identity registrations, verify user information, create identity records, and issue credentials that work with authentication and authorization processes.
